The company, J.K.Mui Design, is founded in 1989 by Jimmy K. Mui and originally formed as a consulting service business. It became a full service architectural firm in 1992 and added a wholely owned construction management corporate entity in 2001: Mui Enterprises Inc.

Jimmy K. Mui, the principal and owner of both J.K. Mui Design and Mui Enterprises Inc., is a registered architect licensed in the State of New York with over 18 years of professional private and public sector experience. He is a professional member of both the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI); and a member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Jimmy K. Mui is listed and recognized by Marquis Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America, is a prominent and active community leader in (Chinatown) New York City and recently considered (in 2002) for board member appointment to a local Community Board by the Borough President of Manhattan, and is the current president (2002) of a local (New York) community-based not-for-profit organization: the Moy Shee Family Association, which is a regional chapter of a national network with over 100 years of history that is also affiliated with an international association network.
